It’s just focused on the content and basic formatting which is good.
Don’t want some weird MySpace feeling to it
Design language, no emoji.
***put [File] [Edit] [View] in toolbar areas ****
Yes — I think you’ve landed on a much stronger design language for Ohkso.
The nice thing is that these aren’t arbitrary labels. They already have decades of learned meaning:
[File] = what happens to this object
Move, delete, perhaps duplicate later.
[Edit] = change the object’s actual contents
Edit a Document, rename something, etc.
[View] = how/who can see it
Public, Private, perhaps other visibility options someday.
[More] = genuinely secondary things that don’t belong in the first three categories.
And I particularly agree about replacing ambiguous emoji where appropriate. 👀 was compact, but [View] actually tells the user what category they’re changing. Then opening it could reveal something as simple as:
[View]
├─ Public
└─ Private
Likewise, our Library item could eventually be extremely clean:
📄 Japanese Hops — September Study
9/25/2026 [File] [Edit] [View]
And we don’t necessarily need all three on every object. A saved board post can’t be edited, for example, so perhaps it gets [File] [View]; a Document can get [File] [Edit] [View].
That last part is important for minimalism: the vocabulary is standardized, but we only show the words that actually apply.
I also like the square brackets. They fit Ohkso’s older-web/Y2K character, remain extremely lightweight, work without relying on icon interpretation, and consume very little phone space.
I think this is worth treating as an actual Ohkso interface convention, rather than merely a solution to this particular Library problem. We can gradually reuse [File], [Edit], [View], and [More] elsewhere whenever their meanings genuinely fit.
